Sub genres

There are so many differant types of horror films today from slash horror to comedy horror but the one our group choose was zombie horror as our audience research showed this was the favourite.  We decided to do some research on differant types so that we could know more about sub genres.

Comedy horror also known as horror comedy is a literacy and film genre that is combined with elements of horror and humour. While comedy horror films provide scares for audiences, they also provide something that dramatic horror films do not: "the permission to laugh at your fears, to whistle past the cinematic graveyard and feel secure in the knowledge that the monsters can't get you"[-wikipedia].

Thriller is a genre of literature film and television that used suspense, tension and excitement as the main elements. The primary sub genres of thrillers are: mystery crime and pschological thriller. After the assasination of President Kennedy, political thriller films became very popular. Thrillers are mostly characterised by an atmosphere of menace, violence crime and murder by showing society as dark, corrupt and dangerous, though they often feature a happy ending in which the villains are killed or arrested. Thrillers heavily promote on twists and cliffhangers . The tone in horrors are usually gritty.

Supernatural horror has its roots in legends and religious traditions on death, the afterlife and the principle of evil embodied in the devil  These were manifested in stories of witches, vampires wizards etc. although the supernatural is not as popular as other horror genres it has had some exceeding films such as the Unborn and The Ring.

Zombies are regularly encountered in horror theme entertainment. Typically there are presented mindless, shambling, decaying corpses with a hunger for human flesh. Recently since 2009 research has shown zombies are challenging vampire for their popularity and this also has

also been reflected in our questionaire.
